NEW COLLECTION: SS16 BY RITARITA
Discovering a new brand is a thrilling experience.
Besides the actual "revelation" part, there are countless tiny moments where you explore the collections, the history of the brand, the campaigns and photoshoots, and then you dive into details. Which is, if you ask us is THE most exciting part of the process.
And so it was with RITARITA, a Milanese brand, born out of the collaboration between Silvia Gherra, an illustrator, and Margherita Mazza, a fashion designer.
When we studied their SS16 collection, we lingered over every image, as if afraid to miss yet another amazing detail. The designers' ability to create such a visually stimulating collection, that somehow manages to look minimalistic is puzzling and mind blowing.
Prints, color blocks, color contrasts, embroidery, pockets, stripes, stitching. You name it, they have it all. Add this to the bright aqua blue background – and you have quite a lot to deal with.
And yet, all of it makes sense.
One might ask how. By expertly balancing shapes, patterns, details and colors.
Severe, clean shapes are what helps to keep the collection streamlined and not overly busy. The silhouettes are not basic, but they are quite simple and functional.
No fuss here, you can wear and combine several garments together and it will look amazing. You can even build an entire wardrobe around this collection. We dare you!
We admit it, we weren’t overly excited about the name of the collection, “The Explorer”. But the inspiration behind the name is definitely exciting, and so is the interpretation.
The designers took reference points from the ground, stones and lichens: “We focused on and were influenced by shapes and designs found in extreme environments: high mountains, unexplored islands, and planets of the solar system.”
RITARITA items are designed, printed and made in Italy.
